ASPHALT PLANING

ASPHALT PLANING

Asphalt Planing is the grinding up, removal of asphalt from a parking lot. Planing usually consist of removing the top 2 inches from a parking lot. The asphalt removed from the parking lot are called millings or RAP. The RAP can then be recycled and reused in asphalt mixes in the future. Asphalt Planing is a valuable option if your parking lot has good base but has too much asphalt on it already. If the base asphalt or the stone base underneath is not sufficient the asphalt planer could go through the base cause larger expenses for the customer. After the asphalt is removed, the remaining surface is than cleaned, leveled with a 1/2 inch of asphalt then paved with a 1-1/2-inch surface layer of 448-1. At Hammett asphalt we offer complete Mill off and repave jobs as will as mill and repair jobs completed with our 2-foot cold planer.
